Cape Blazers: A Trend Worth Obsessing Over

Okay, so let's talk about this whole "cape blazer" trend. I am not one to obsess over pieces that become trendy just because someone said they should be, but this time, I think I can make an exception. I mean, let's really take a closer look at all the ways in which the blazer a la cape is obsession-worthy:

  1. The most obvious reason of all...this is a blazer/jacket/whatever with sleeves that you can choose whether or not you want to use. I cannot even tell you how many times I will be wearing a cute jacket, but not really wanting to fully wear it because it's too hot or, frankly, because I like showing off my super sexy arms. Enter the awkward "jacket over my shoulders to keep those warm but not put my arms in the sleeves" look that just screams how scared I am of commitment. Okay, maybe that last part was a little extreme, but you get my point.
  2. The cape blazer is literally named after an accessory designed for superheroes. 'Nuff said.
  3. Versatility. Cape blazer with fun twirly skirt (see photos below for illustration)? Check. Cape blazer with a simple blouse and slacks for a more profesh look? Check. Cape blazer with a sexy, short mini dress for a dinner or drinks with the girls? Check.

Cape Blazer FTW. This one is by Mickey's Girl, and, in case you are visually impaired, is pink/blush/whatever the hell you want to call it. I am not a pink girl, but this one has me swooning (and twirling, literally).

The weather in NYC is still absolutely gorgeous, so I paired it with a floral cami and white midi drop hem flirty skirt for this possibly out of season look. Shop the look by clicking the links below the bottom photo. You can thank me later :)
